Michael Odeh proves once again he is an idiot

Now he isn't a household name but I had the unfortunate experience of playing about 5 hours with this guy at the Rincon prelim event this past March. We both made the final table him finishing I think 9th and me 7th. He was a jerk who kept apologizing (seriously like 5-6 times) to the table about his antics saying it is just an act blah blah blah. He got lucky early in the tourney when I called his all in with QQ and he had 88 and spiked an 8 on the river. Another time he slow rolled Aces when a guy trying to make a move went all in. He thought about it for at least 30 seconds making a speech he only looked at one card and that was why he was the initial raiser.

Anyways just a dumbass and he displays his dumbassness again when he doesn't know who Hank Azaria is. I mean he may not be the most household name but the guy has been acting and doing voices for years. Maybe I'm being too hard on the guy or maybe I just wanted to flame him for the world to read or least our 3 fans out there who read this but he is one annoying jerky poker player.

Craziness at Table 127
Kevin "Lucko" O'Brien takes a big hit down to $7,200 when his opponent flops Quads.

Shortly afterwards, Hank Azaria raises to $600 in middle position. Pete "The Beat" Giordano, raises him to $1,600. When the action gets around to Azaria, he re-raises to $5,600. Giordano immediately goes all-in and has Azaria covered. Azaria has $2,900 left, and he asks Giordano if he has Aces. Giordano says he doesn't know, but that he would like Azaria to stick around for awhile. Azaria is torn on his decision. He already has about 2/3 of his chips in the middle, but he hesitates to make a decision. The cameras swarm around him, and he eventually folds the KK face up. Giordano tells him he made a good decision, and turns over the AA. Michael Odeh, who is one table over, comes over to tell him what a great laydown he made. Someone tells Odeh that even celebrities can play, considering Rene Angelil made the same laydown earlier in the day. Unfortunately, Odeh doesn't know who Azaria is, and asks for his credits. Azaria doesn't seem to be in the mood, but he does a few voices from The Simpsons, including Chief Wiggum and Moe Sizlak.

The next two hands, Azaria takes down both pots and builds himself right back up to $5,000 in chips.

Donkiness reigns at WSOP ME

Man I kinda wish I was playing, but who am I kidding I'd probably bust out in day 1 but hey I'd make it farther than NBA. Why this guy didn't call his last all in is beyond me. Aren't you pot committed. He put in $16,000 and then won't call Varkomyi's last $1,400. I sure hope this is a card player error...wouldn't be their first.

Varkonyi Wins Battle of Blinds
Action is folded around to Robert Varkonyi in the small blind, and he limps, the big blind raises to $1,000 and Varkonyi calls. The flop is 654, Varkonyi checks, the big blind bets $2,000, and Varkonyi calls. The turn is the 10, Varkonyi checks, the big blind bets $3,000, and Varkonyi calls. The river is the K, Varkkonyi bets $5,000, the big blind raises to $10,000, Varkonyi then re-raises his last $1,400 all-in, and the big blind folds. Varkonyi now has $33,400.

Perhaps the funniest prop bet in WSOP history

Fri Jul 28 16:31:00 PDT 2006

Joe Sebok has arrived at the tournament dressed as "Robin" from the Batman and Robin comic book. Sebok lost a bet to Gavin Smith on who would perform the best during the preliminary events at the 2006 WSOP. Sebok must make an appearance dressed as a different super-hero for each day of the main event (Smith gets to choose which character).

This guy obviously won his seat on Party Poker...

This guy is actually playing in the WSOP ME...

From Cardplayer.com:

Fri Jul 28 12:32:00 PDT 2006

On a flop of 10c 7c 5s, Tim Rod bets $300 and his opponent raises to $600. Rod calls and the turn puts the 3c on the board. Rod again bets out with $1,500 and is again raised by his opponent to $4,000. Rod calls and the river puts the 3s on the board. Rod pushes all-in and his opponent immediately calls. Rod flips up KQ for a turned flush. His opponent says, "Do I have a straight flush? Oh, no I don't," as he shows 8d 6s for 8-high.

Look at him in this compared to his 97 appearance. What a shame what happened to this guy.

81 WSOP final

A Well Played Hand To Win A Mini Step 1

Sometimes I even impress myself with my uncanny poker playing skills and abilities...

This was the final hand of a mini-step 1:

He does, and I do.

Yes.

Welcome back, Mr. NBA

1st MTT since Vegas.... took down 8th place for a meager $180. 1st place was almost $1,300... woulda been nice.

Still haven't won a MTT for a lonnnnng time...

Roy Green, boy...

Damn that guy is a good lookin sonnavabitch...

I haven't even thought about poker since Vegas... until today. Noticed that Jeff Madsen won his second bracelet of this WSOP... Wow. 21 years old, 2 bracelets and $1.4 million... all before the main event.

Of course, I have many regrets from this last trip... perhaps my only poker regret was not playing in an event. I don't think I'm going to have an opportunity to play in a WSOP for many years to come now and I just wish I would have dragged myself away from that 1-2 NL table long enough to play more satellites and an event. Oh well

What are the odds

I don't get his preflop re-raise of me, but it was like he knew what was coming...

Things going smoothly till I met up with a total donkey. How come nobody gives respect...was it because I was in the bb and I'm not supposed to pick up big hands in the blind. At least give me the credit of AK with a king high flop when I reraised you 3x your bet. Maybe I should have put him all in on the flop but he would have called anyways I'm sure. I'm done with on-line poker again for a while. Just having no luck lately. Too many river suck outs in the past 3 days (you wouldn't believe me if I told you)...not trying to whine but it is ridiculous. A break is needed.

Stewman's Quest

All right guys, so NBA has inspired me to do my own quest (on a much smaller scale) and so far so good. I played 1 $6 step and finished 5th, then replayed and finished 5th, and then replayed and finished 4th, and then replayed and took first. Just played step 2 and took it down on my first try. Here are some hands from both.

Here is the first win. I was major short stack heads up and still took it down.

WSOP

So the WSOP was amazing. That amazon room is overwhelming and I saw all the top pro's. Sinatra was like a kid in the candy store. He got his picture taken with his girl Jen Harman and Phil Ivey which I think was probably the highlight for him since to my knowledge he didn't play at the Rio.

My only complaint I have with the WSOP is the fact they sold out on the $1500nl event#2. They shouldn't cap it. When we got into town it weas sold out except for alternates and who really wants that. They shouldn't cap these events especially when people fly in from all over the world to play in them. So no WSOP tourney for me this year but soemday I will play in one. I ended up selling my chip for the $500 value so I can't complain too much.

Saki, Trey-Deuce, and WSOP

So I survived a week in Vegas. I wish I could say my bankroll did also. As NBA wrote previously my trip started out great by taking down a $65 sng at the Rio for a nice $485 profit. I made a great call at the end when I just knew the guy was trying to jam and steal the pot. Sadly, that was about the highlight of my trip. The next day busted right on the bubble of the final table at the MGM tournament. I took 2 sick beats losing 2 pots to the same guy. He was on tilt and called me all in with J10 and said I'm only calling because I want to go home. I had KJ. Turn comes a 10 and now I'm short stack. Very next hand, I'm all in with AA, the same guy in the small blind now calls the $800 more to meet the big blind of $1600. Flop comes J63 and the sb moves all in, bb folds. He flips over 63. He called 25% of his chips with a 63. That was the donkey fest that was happening all over the MGM and I'm sure the rest of Vegas. At least he finished 8th, 2 out of the money.

I proceed to pretty much lose at everything else. I've determined that playing low-limit hold'em in vegas is a hugely negative EV game. People play every hand. One hand I will share.

I raise UTG with KK to $6. Seat 2 raises to $9. The guy on the button who plays every hand calls. I reraise to $12 and everyone calls. Flop comes Q high with 2 diamonds. I bet, call call. Turn is a rag. I bet 6, fold, call. River another diamond. I check and the button bets. I knew he got his flush but had to pay him off. He flips over 105 diamonds. That was my trip. Either card dead or losing to donkey's. At least Trey-Deuce (Roy Green) made it fun at the no limit tables. He busted me but then I got him back the next day for all my money back and more.

Nobu was awesome for my b-day dinner. Thanks NBA for buying...it wasn't cheap folks due to the greatest tasting saki either of us had ever tasted.

Sinatra rolled into town that night and we played pai gow for a while. Friday my two buddies Mateo G and Danito D got into Vegas. Hung out with them and then that night all the guys got together and we partied hard. Saturday was the same as my friend Tracy got into town for the weekend. Suffice to say I don't remember much of the last night.

Thanks to everyone who came. It was a blast.
