I guess I was only about 67% to win preflop and 83% on the flop... not overwhelming or anything.

I'm running really bad the last few days. I flopped two pair TWICE in one tourney and lost to runner-runner both times.

Tonight, I had 8-2 in the BB and flop came down 8-2-x. SB bet into me, I min-raised, he came over the top and I pushed. He showed Q8. Turn was another 8 and river was another 2. We chopped.

I haven't won a tourney for about 2 days. I have a few second place finishes and too many third place finishes.

I'm 0-for-4 in my last 4 double shootouts.

I need a break.

Davin Andersson PWNS me

Remember the Asain guy with the Sweedish name who finished in 25th place but seemed to be all the ESPN broadcasters could talk about in the 2004 WSOP ME? Well, I ran into him today on my $27 Double Shootout Satellite.

I know it's him because I checked pocketfives "PokerStars Pros Names Thread". He also put his own picture on his avatar. How cute.

I honestly thought he had a mid-to-weak ace with his preflop raise from the cutoff. he had been raising a lot from position but showed good discipline by folding in an unraised pot from the small blind almost every time. Didn't think he would bet so big on the turn with top pair K kicker with no real draw on the board. I thought my Q was good.

Ouch.

An Ode To Poker Stars

I love Poker Stars.

Sooo much more than Party Poker.

The fish are all donks,

The donks are all weak-agressive,

And my bankroll keeps growing by the day.

Thank you, Poker Stars.

-------------------------

So I accidently registered for a HORSE tourney when I thought I was registering for a Razz tourney:

And won. Wow. I know it's only a $3 buy-in but still impressive for a guy who has never played a day of HORSE, right?

The game selection is better, the satellite structure rocks and the overall feeling of play is far superior to Party.

Poker Stars... you are my new home.

... and that's how I went out... in 4,165th place. Getting AA cracked by a guy defending his blind with 3-6 off-suit.

I'm sick.

Step 2 done

So I have completed step 2 of 3 in becoming Mr. Negreanu's protege. I finished 16th out of 304 and qualified (top 25 qualify) for the final tourney which is Oct 29th and will be 600 people. Winner of that gets a seat at the protege final table.

Correction: Top 2 of this final tourney get seats into a sng on FCP with the winner receiving a seat at the protege final table.

I'm in...

I did it... I qualified for the WCOOP Event #2 ($530 buy-in NLHE) off of $13.

Now it's 3:30am and the tourney starts in 10 hours... 15 minutes after the Chargers kick off against the Titans.

I am in quite a situation I suppose... I want to take a shot at the estimated $1.5 million prize pool but I want to watch my Chargers play.

Decisions, decisions...

I'll figure something out... I HOPE!

One step closer to becoming DN's Protege

So I'm poor and back to playing ESPN poker right now. Promotion is 1 seat at protege final table. I qualified for the first Sunday tourney.

2-for-2 in Razz

Haha.. this is great.. I've played exactly 2 Razz tourneys in my life and won both of them. It makes sense that I'm so good at Razz... I mean, the player with the worst hand wins and I since I have the worst luck in the world, that makes me the greatest Razz player in the world!

One Day...

So I was waiting for my Razz satellite to start so I railed the $25/$50 NLHE game on Stars for a few hands:

WOW. I like the smooth call of the PF re-raise by MOMUS holding AA. I don't think I could commit all my chips (nearly $8,000!!) on the flop though for fear the other guy might have flopped a set of 10s... God, if I got AA cracked and lost $13K I don't think I would make it through the night... Lucky for him though the best hand held up and he raked in a pot worth more than my car.

More Roy Green Hillarity

From Walter Zuey's blog:

Roy Green - One of the top 3 Cards in the AZ era. Personally launched the careers of several young pros during a year of so playing 75- stud. Swore it off. Back sometimes and improved a tad, tho it may just be regression to the mean.

Hahaha! It's nice to see he's as bad of a stud player as he is a NLHE player.

Love it...

3-0, Bitches

Now that football season is here, I have something to brag about.

My week 1 record. Perfect. 3-0 in 3 leagues. Bitches.

A recap of my ESPN leagues:

I am very happy with both my teams... I feel like I have the team to beat in the league I created (will be referred to as MY league from here on out).

My League:

I am solid in every offensive catagory. Hasselbeck at QB, LT at RB, Harrison at WR, Crumpler at TE, and Rackers at K.

I drafted the NY Giants (#1 on my list for D) but they have a TOUGH schedule the first 2 weeks (Indy and Philly) but I picked up the Bengals' D to start the first 2 weeks.

I'm a bit thin in my "slash" position (RB/WR) and my second WR position. Right now, I am flipping a coin for who to start in my slash spot. I went with what I thought was the obvious choice last week and started Reuben Droughnes against the Saints thus benching Julius Jones vs the Jags. Oops. Droughnes looked extremely average and his line looked less average. Jones on the other hand looked great against a tough Jacksonville D. Perhaps this is the year for him? I hope...

My second WR position is either Andre Johnson or Terry Glenn. I started Glenn this week knowing the Cowboys would be down most of the game and they would have to go to the air... well, I didn't take into consideration that Drew Bledsoe continues to be one of the worst QBs in the league. I will use the same strategy employed last week and plan to start Johnson this week vs the Colts.

In my other league, "Mike's League":

Although I consider my other team my best team, I consider this team the team with the most up-side. Culpepper at QB, LT and Portis at RB, McGahee at RB/WR, Hines Ward and Javon Walker at WR, Ben Watson at TE, Chargers D and Shayne Graham at K.

This team has the potential to go undefeated... seriously. There will be weeks where certain players don't do much, but for the most part, these guys should score a ton of points consistently.

I won't bother going into detail about my 3rd and final team this week... I auto-drafted that team and still have a lot of work to do.

My fellow blog mates had a mixed weekend. In the 2 leagues we all play in, here's how we all did:

NoBlackAces: 2 - 0
Stewman: 1-1
RiverRat: 1-1
Sinatra: 0-2

Off to a good start this year... I'll post week 2 predictions in a few days.

Dmitri Nobles is the new Aaron Kanter

Jeezus that guy is a donkey's donk. I mean, he makes Stewman look like a world champion! The guy called all-ins time after time with one pair (and weak pairs at that!) The guy managed to donk off a stack that was once 22 times the average and finished a miserable 76th place!

Tuesday, September 05, 2006

I'm sick of donkey's drawing out

See hand below!!!! Don't mind the call on the flop but to call off 2/3 of your stack on the turn I don't know about that. I guess he had about 19 outs he thought...not sure what he was thinking but of course he hit. I knew he was on the flush draw too and I thought he would fold since it didn't hit on the turn but since he turned an open ender I guess he thought he was good. Maybe I played it wrong. I think going all in was the appropriate move. No point in betting $4000 to $5000 and then either folding with less than >2k or calling because pot committed. Comments appreciated.

So that $54 dollars, all gone. I played a $11 6 handed sng. 4 players left and I have aces vs kings all in pre flop and he hits a king on the flop and I'm out. Then lost $21 playing the micro nl when my AA lost to AK. I raise to 1.50 and get reraised to $5.00. I reraise all in for about another 20 and he calls with AK. Flop comes with a K and the turn is another K. That's poker but to lose these 3 hands today all within 2 hours of each and to get my bankroll back down to $0 kills me after spending over 5 hours playing in the tourney yesterday.

Still searching for first in a large MTT but getting closer

So if you remember a few posts back, I played in a PP points free roll and finished 20th good for $18. Well I built that $18 up to almost $200 but then lost it all on some sick beats and just bad luck. My account soon read goose eggs so I ponied up 100 PP points to play in another free roll because I am a degenerate and currently have no life (hint hint to all the ladies who are currently not reading this...I'm single...can you believe it). OK so back to poker, there were 905 entrants I finished 3rd. I did have the chip lead with 4 left but lost it when in the bb I raised the sb who just called with 10's and he moved all in and had jacks. At the end, I went all in on a flush draw and gut shot straight and it turns out the chipleader had the nut flush draw. Nothing hit and IGHN. Oh well, made $54 so let's see how I can easily blow that.

I feel my game is coming around and I'm ready for the big time, just need someone dumb enough to back me in a large tourney, say the festa al lago in October. Yeah right!!!

One of these days I will get a win, you can count on it.
