$999

My August Stats:

I must admit... I am disappointed that I fell short of winning $1,000 in SNG's by a buck.

I did win $235 in ring games for a total August profit of $1234.

I placed in the money 63.27% of the time... that's my best yet. The 6 person SNG is a god-damned money maker.

Party poker points tourney

So since I have no money in my PP account, I decided to use some of my hard earned points and play in there 250 points tourney. Winner got $262.50 and top 30 paid. Here are some hands. I cashed but not sure if I made the right call. I don't see how I get away from the hand. My read was right and he had 3 outs but should I have called? Comments appreciated. I ended up cashing for $18.75.

Played this hand perfect and got lucky my opponent made a straight.

This guy had been upset with me the whole time because I took 2 big pots off of him (I had best hand both times) He was talking trash and always raised my blinds or called my raises when he was in the blind. Just waiting for the right time and it came.

Recently spent some time with NBA and he loves Presto. Says he flops a lot of sets with them. Well I had 55 and decided to play it. Flop didn't help but the pre flop raiser priced me in to take one off and I did. TG I did because a 5 on the turn and I won a massive pot.

This is the final hand I played. I knew he had AK but he did have me cover. Hope for no Ace, unfortunately he hit. I knew he didn't have aces because he wouldn't have raised all in and wouldn't have done that with Aces. Overall statisfied with how I played. I got a away from tp tk when I think guy flopped a set of 5's or 2's. Tough lay down but I think it was right. Besides that smooth coasting into the money.

All week this has been happening. I don't get it!! How do these people make it this far?? What am I doing wrong?

Just today, I got knocked out of the tournament in 3rd TWICE when I moved all-in with the best hand and got sucked out on... and I'm not talking about A5 vs KQ. I'm talking AQ vs KQ and AK vs KJ. Each time the guy had 3 outs IF i don't hit my high card. ARGH!!!!

18 times I have finished 3rd when top 2 move on or 2nd when only 1st moves on. 18 times!!!!!!!

I will be re-thinking my strategy after I'm done wasting my time with these fucking tourneys.

Mini-Steps Quest Update: Done with Step 1s!

So here are my final stats from the first level of my mini-steps quest:

23 Step 1 buy-ins ($6 each) allowed me to play 51 Step 1 tournaments and yielded 9 Step 2 entries ($22 each). I fell one short of my goal of 10 step 2s, but seeing how I finished in 2nd place TWELVE times, I can forgive myself.

So far, I am right on pace for what I predicted:

In my June 18th post, I estimated that I would need to turn 50 Step 1 buy-ins into 19 Step 2 move-ups (39.3% ROI). Since I ammended my quest half-way through my Step 1 buy-ins (instead of buying into 50, I decided to buy into 23), I turned 23 buy-ins into 9 step 2 move-ups (43.5% ROI).

Since I bought in less times, I will have less chances to cash in step 5, but all I need is one 5th place finish to make money.

I have already begun my Step 2s and moved on in both Step 2s I have played (one 1st and one 2nd). I will need to move on at least 5 times to stay on pace, meaning I need to place 1st or 2nd in 3 of the remaining 7 tournaments yet to be played.

More updates to come -

Mini-Steps Quest Update

I haven't posted any updates from my Mini-Steps quest in a while, so I thought this would be a good time:

I decided to only buy in to 23 step 1s and with replays I have played in 44... So far, I have won 8 of them. I have 6 step 1s left to play. Here's a rundown of my finishes:

7th or worse: 9
6th: 1
5th: 5
4th: 5
3rd: 4
2nd: 12
1st: 8

12 second place finshes is quite discouraging. In any other step, I would be happy with second place, but only first place moves on in this step.

I took exactly a month off from the quest, and when I came back to it, it took me a while to shake off the rust. My average finish is now 3.8. I have 8 step 2s (worth $22 each) so my ROI is now in the black at 27.5%.

I should be done playing all my step 1s by the end of next week, and hopefully I will have 10 step 2s to start in on. I'll post another update then.
